Here is one of those little gadgets from Japan that I always find myself needing. It’s basically a video alarm clock with touch sensors and connection ports for mobile media devices. When music is played the fish seem to appear and move in tune with the music. The player also has both sunrise and sunset settings.

The touch screen is kinda cool because the fish scatter from the point you touch. It’s like dropping a rock in a coy pond. There is also a audio mic on the top which apparently makes the fishes interact with voice.
It reminds me of the program AfterDark we all had as our screensavers years ago. If only this thing had interactive flying toasters I’d totally be sold.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if the country actually ran the way that you wanted it to? I know I have. I’ve finally found a game that lets me know how things would end up theoretically if my political ideas were actually implemented.
Nation States is a political simulation game that is completely text based. When you first go to the site you create a country customizing things from the flag, currency, national animal, the national motto, and the style of government. From there you choose how many issues that you want given to you in a day. You’ll generally have two to three options on how to handle the issue or you can just ignore it completely and nothing will be done about it. You can toggle the amount of issues from none to twice a day.
The entire game is inspired by Max Barry’s book, Jennifer Government. The novel takes place in a highly privatized world. You can read the first chapter here and it does seem pretty interesting. Max Barry is also the maker of Nation States.
Overall I think the game serves as a fantastic marketing approach for a book. It is definitely unique in the approach and I must say that it is fairly effective. I never even would have heard of it otherwise.
